What is Relationship Counselling? Bev Stone at Foreman & Jones, Hythe

by hayley on June 29 2010

Many people want a satisfying relationship and are confused and disappointed when things go wrong.

Difficulties are often created by outside pressures or life events and couples lose sight of why they are together. Couple therapy can be of help to understand some of the issues a couple may be experiencing and work towards a way forward.

My service offers you a safe and confidential place to talk about your concerns.

When is relationship counselling relevant?

Listed below are the sorts of issues that couples bring to couple therapy.

  • difficulty in communication
  • an affair
  • unmanageable conflict
  • sexual problems
  • issues relating to separation and divorce
  • step-families or lone parenting
  • effects of work related stress or loss of job
  • life cycle changes e.g adjusting to a new baby, redundancy,’ empty nest’, fertility issues, retirement.

What if my partner won’t attend?

Relationship therapy can be used by an individual whose partner is unable or unwilling to attend.

It is also helpful where there has been the loss of a partner through separation, divorce or bereavement.

How long will it take?

Therapy can be for a fixed number of sessions or it can take place over a longer period of time. This is decided in conjunction with myself at our initial assessment session.

Cost

£50 per session for couples, £40 for individuals.

Sessions are held once weekly at the same time and on the same day. It is usual for the full fee to be charged for missed sessions.
