Stephen Bayliss – Supporting adults and children to balance physical and emotional well being.

We all have things that we want to change at some time in our lives. The aim is to help you find the best ways forward for your circumstances.

Chartered Psychology

Stephen can help with:

Social/Emotional Issues- such as anxiety, stress, anger management, trauma, confidence and improving relationships.
Family and work Issues- such as personal development, relaxation techniques, improving your child’s behaviour and managing a child with a medical diagnosis.
Education (your child’s or your own) – such as concentration and motivation, exam/test anxiety, bullying victim/bullying and Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The benefits of counselling for you or your child

Counselling involves helping the adult/child to develop a greater understanding of their situation and find ways forward. Confidential support from an experienced well-qualified professional can be invaluable if we cannot resolve difficulties ourselves.

Counselling is a positive experience, enabling the client to develop as a person and often identifies underused strengths and qualities.

Assessments

The exact nature of the assessment depends upon the needs and concerns. Comprehensive assessments often involve a detailed interview, investigation of literacy and other learning skills, cognitive (thinking) and social/emotional/behavioural skills. In the case of children, parents are interviewed in detail. Helpful strategies are discussed and included in a detailed report that specifies ideas for both home and school.

Consultations

Your concerns are discussed and you are helped to progress and choose action at a speed that suits you as an individual. Confidential consultations, approximately 45 minutes long, are available to the public, schools and businesses and other organisations.

How many sessions might it take?

That depends on the issues and complexity of the situation, as well as the goals of the client. Sometimes only one to two sessions will be needed. When counselling is provided the aim is to help bring about change in as short a time as possible, with only 4-6 sessions sometimes necessary. Others choose further sessions, gradually reducing in frequency.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can help

Back and neck pain, sciatica, aches and sprains.
Infections, coughs and colds.
Digestive problems, constipation/diarrhoea, nausea.
Headaches
Menstrual problems. Male and female fertility. Male sexual dysfunction.
Skin disorders.
Relaxation, anxiety and depression.
Confidence.
These are just some of the many things that acupuncture addresses.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves inserting fine needles to improve the flow and balance of qi. This stimulates the body to heal itself or maintain health in a safe and natural way. Sterilised needles are always used and safely disposed of. Great care is taken with safety and hygiene according to procedures as required by the British Acupuncture Council and local authority regulations. Acupuncture needles, unlike hypodermic needles used in conventional medical practice, are very fine and not hollow. The patient may feel a dull ache or tingling.

A great benefit of the approach by acupuncturists is that they deal with the whole person, not only the symptoms. Therefore an individual approach to treatment is given, rather than a standard one size fits all!
